Salt + Stone - (United States)

The idea behind this latest blend from the Wine Hooligans originates from the benefits of blending. This can involve using a different grape variety or the same grape variety that underwent a different 'upbringing', where shortcomings or deficiencies of a grape or its specific vintage are complemented by another grape or the same grape that has been aged differently, for example. This makes the result more complete and interesting without tampering with the soul of the wine. However, here the same grape from two different locations is always combined. Vineyards near the coast benefit from the wind and temperature variations (Salt), while inland vineyards are usually warmer and experience less cooling (Stone). This gives the winemaker the opportunity to combine the structured, refined, and slightly salty character of the coast with the warm, lush, and deeper character of the inland. It results in a more complete and complex wine that showcases the best of both worlds.

Aromas of cherries, red berries, and orange peel accompanied by a hint of leather and the spicy pepper accents and refreshing citrus tones of grains of paradise. In the mouth, black cherries, blackberries, and enticing notes of cedarwood and vanilla reveal themselves. Elegant and refined structure. Beautifully balanced and long finish.

Light red cherry color with dark red reflections. Aromas of black cherries blend with earthy notes of forest floor and a hint of smoke. On the palate, flavors of caramelized strawberry, white pepper, and tobacco are supported by a touch of spice. The finish is flavorful, refreshing, and elegant.

Dark ruby-red color with purple reflections. Blackberries and plums leap out of the glass with fine hints of spices and orange peel in the background. On the palate, we find this black fruit accompanied by a seductive touch of cocoa and cedar. Lush fruit is well-balanced with a challenging acidity. This remarkable balance keeps the wine exciting and characterizes the fairly long finish.
