2021 Chateau Kamnik Kratosija 0.75 Ltr. Red
picture of

Beautiful, dark, and deep color. Seductive aromas of black and red fruits with impressions of freshly shaved wood, vanilla, mocha, clove, and licorice. Blackcurrants, plums, black cherries, coffee, and cedar on the palate. Intense but very pleasant mouthfeel. Long, impressive, yet wonderfully smooth finish.

Croatia: Tribidrag, North Macedonia: Kratosija, Italy: Primitivo, and California: Zinfandel... These are all the same grape! This extremely popular grape pairs exceptionally well with various hearty meat dishes, game, and spicy stews.

climate

The vineyards, located along the Vardar River in the Skopje wine region, extend over the hills at a minimum of 300 meters above sea level, with a southern slope. The surrounding mountains create an excellent microclimate. The mountain air currents circulating in this area effectively reduce summer evening temperatures and keep the ground warm in winter. Additionally, Skopje experiences fewer Mediterranean influences and more Continental ones.

soil

Vineyards that range from poor soils with limestone, clay, and slate to, closer to the river, more alluvial soils with more pebbles.

vinification

The pneumatic punch-down system connected to the large wooden vats provides exceptional color extraction with very fine tannins during fermentation. The wine then continues to age in a mix of new and previously used French and American oak barrels for 30 months.
